Opera Studio of the Volksoper Vienna
The Volksoper Wien has made it a project close to its heart to bring music theater in all its facets to the stage in a lively, contemporary, young and top-class way. The promotion of young artists must be an elementary component of this project. At the beginning of the 2022/23 season, the Christian Zeller Private Foundation made it possible to establish a new opera studio at the Volksoper Wien.
In this program, six international singers and one pianist will be accompanied for two years on their way from their studies to professional life. They will receive regular coaching, master classes, acting, dance and language lessons, workshops to prepare them for the special mental and physical challenges of everyday life as an artist, auditions, career management tools and, of course, the opportunity to take their first steps in their own opera studio productions as well as on the stage of the Volksoper Wien. In this way, the Volksoper Wien makes a significant contribution to furthering the identity of the house.
Vienna Volksoper Children's Choir and Youth Choir
This is how the youngest get on stage at the Volksoper Wien: in order to sing on stage in performances at the Volksoper Wien, around 100 children and 50 teenagers or young adults receive 60 minutes of choir lessons and voice training once a week. They start in the basic choir at the age of 7 and 8 and then, depending on their progress, move on to the stage choir and thus to the big stage.
