Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera
The Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera stands for excellent training in classical and contemporary dance. The aim is to offer young talents from all over the world a platform on which they can develop their full artistic and personal potential. Respect, professionalism and a deep connection to the Viennese dance tradition form the foundation of our work.
Youth Company of the Vienna State Opera
The Youth Company of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy offers 12 dancers between the ages of 17 and 21 the opportunity to prepare for the professional world each season.
The aim is to offer artistic and technical development opportunities for young dancers in a safe environment and thus support a successful transition into a professional ballet company.
In addition to classical, contemporary and repertoire training and individual coaching, the focus of the training contract is on preparing for future auditions and gaining stage experience by participating in productions of the Vienna State Ballet, the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper Vienna. Furthermore, the dancers take part in the youth company's own productions and in the Ballet Academy's annual matinee at the Vienna State Opera.
This further training is limited to two years.
Opera School of the Vienna State Opera
Whether it's Carmen, La Bohème or Tosca - the children's choir brings a zest to the stage.
The Vienna State Opera enables talented children from the age of 8 to enter the world of opera. On around 100 evenings a season, the children of the opera school are in the spotlight on the big stage: as soloists or in the choir. Performances outside the opera also enrich the Opera School's activities.

Opera studio of the Vienna State Opera
With the start of Bogdan Roščić and Philippe Jordan's term of office in 2020/21, the Vienna State Opera has founded an opera studio to provide two years of targeted and practical support for outstanding singing talent.
The Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera is an indispensable project for the work of young talent at a major repertoire house in order to promote and maintain singing excellence.
Choral Academy of the Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera Choral Academy was founded in 2014 to provide young singers with practical training after their studies (or even after a first stage of their studies). The focus is on participation as a chorus singer at the Vienna State Opera and preparation for a professional career as an opera chorus singer.
The Choir Academy has two main tasks: Together with the Extrachor, it supports and strengthens the State Opera Chorus in operas that require a particularly large choral cast. The training at the Choir Academy deepens and expands the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies by rehearsing choral parts in full and individual rehearsals, in staged rehearsals and, above all, by regularly taking part in performances. The academy students thus gain professional experience as singers in the opera choir. They also continue to be coached as soloists and receive support at all times in preparing for competitions and auditions. Occasional concert performances by the choir academy round off the training program.
Participation in the academy is intended for a period of up to two years.
